Since Obama used the N-word in a radio interview when discussing race relations after the mass shooting in South Carolina, saying on CNN that "Racism, we are not cured of it, and it's not just a matter of it not being polite to say n***** in public. That's not the measure of whether racism still exists or not.", it has caused something of a social stir.
it's escalated into a hot topic in the mainstream media and online. With everyone making mountains out of mole hills about the whole affair.
And it's meant that some news outlets have been torn in whether to use the word or censor part of it.
After a similar discussion CNN’s Don Lemon had with legal analyst Sunny Hostin, Lemon thought it would be a good idea to hold up a sign with the word asking "Does this offend you?"
It was an image that Twitter took as a gift, gamely photoshopping various different images onto the board.
And lo, the Don Lemon meme was born.
