'District 9' Director Reveals Awesome Concept Art For His Never-Made Alien Movie

Neill Blomkamp is the South African director behind the insanely good sci-fi movie District 9. He followed that up with the bigger budget but lesser awesome Elysium starring Matt Damon. His new film Chappie is out this year and stars those doyennes of weirdness Die Antwoord, along with Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and a thinking, feeling robot.

But it looks like if Blomkamp had his way he would have tackled the Alien franchise somewhere in between making these movies. Sadly the film was abandoned, but the full story behind what happened is still a mystery.

Instead Blomkamp recently revealed the concept art for it on his Instagram account with the tantalising line "Was working on this. Don't think I am anymore. Love it though." Wut? WHY WORLD, WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL!?

Very cryptic. We can only hope that more details on exactly what happened are revealed at a later date.

And we can live in hope that Fox, who own the franchise, might have a rethink and decide to make Blomkamp's Xenomorph movie after all.
