Vertigo-Inducing Shanghai 88-Story Skywalk Places You 1,115ft Above The Ground With No Barrier

If you suffer from vertigo then you might want to stay away from Shanghai's new skywalk. Set up on the 88th floor of China's third tallest skyscraper (and the 18th tallest building in the world), the Jin Mao Tower, you have the chance to stroll along a glass-floored walkway 1,115ft up.

Oh yes, i totally forgot to mention, there is no guard rail between you and 88-stories of certain death if you fall.

It opened recently to volunteers (yes, you read that right, 'volunteers') to test it out and will be open soon to tourists and the public. You'll need to have some nerve though because it has no handrail or fence, which is usually standard for these types of thing—there is no barrier AT ALL.

You instead are strapped into a safety harness which attaches to the side of the building. It's actually the tallest fenceless skywalk in the world.

Which means you can lean forward and peer over the edge to the ant-like world below, either relishing the thrill or weeping internally and wishing you had never agreed to do it.

The walkway is 196ft long and 4ft wide and can take 15 visitors at a time. It's not the sort of place that you would want to see overcrowding, that's for sure. I'd hate to know what the premiums on safety insurance are for this?

If you're looking for an adrenaline rush and a stunning view over Shanghai, this is for you.

If not, maybe just stay inside.
