If you have a pet, you are probably aware that there are times where they look at you in a certain way and it makes you wonder that if animals could talk to you what would they be trying to say? Because sometimes it really feels as if they actually want to say something to you. Something in human language, not meowing or barking.
But obviously it can't, instead you probably put words in its mouth.
Well a web comic by Jimmy Craig (he's one of the guys in the video above) also puts words in animals' mouths, to hilarious effect. Craig's They Can Talk gives voice to all kinds of animals too, from sharks to cats to camels.
Not only are the comics full of witty observations but they're also tailored to that specific animal's traits too, giving us an insight into how they might see the world. If they had a sense of humor like Craig's, that is.
“Instead of writing about an animal going to work in a suit and carrying a briefcase, I try to base the series loosely in reality,” Craig told The Huffington Post. “I think about actual conversations animals might have.”
If you are wondering why he chose animals and not humans for the subject of his comic illustrations Jimmy provides a good reason , “I love comics and I love animals, but I’m not very good at drawing people — specifically hands and feet,” he said. “Nobody really seems to notice if a paw is drawn incorrectly.”
We are lucky he turned his talents to the rest of the animal world because they're the kind of comics that you can't just read one of though, because once you start you then want to gorge on as many of them as possible.
We've put some of our favs below. But head to Craig's website for many more.
And remember, if animals could talk they'd be saying stuff like this.
