Pop Culture And Cartoon Characters Magically Get Transformed Into The Real World Using An iPhone

François Dourlen is a French photographer who has taken to inserting popular characters from cartoons, TV shows, and movies into the world by placing his iPhone in just the right place.

Using what must be a very steady hand, he holds his phone up so it looks like, say, Darth Vader is enjoying a beer, or a baby has the head of Justin Bieber. Or Patrick the starfish from Spongebob becomes Patrick the Hollywood star. Dourlen says, "My associations of ideas, and above all a means of sharing.It’s not my job, I’m a professor of history."

The results of his labors instantly bring some familiarity and recognition into what otherwise would be everyday photos that you would snap on your iPhone and definitely achieve a unique and amusing pop culture status.

His young daughter features in some of them, others are just wittily placed or a nod to the movie the character's from. It definitely makes you want to go and try this out for yourself.

Francois says of his photographic creations, 'Like many people, I always imagine weird things when I walk in the street, when I work or when I’m home, but I never found a good way to tell what goes through my head. One day, wanting to make a joke with friends, I replaced a statue of Napoleon in Cherbourg with a picture of My Little Pony in my phone and took a picture. I had so much fun that I put it on Facebook and people immediately liked it. I remade another photo in this style, people still loved it, so I made another, and another."

He goes on to say, "I continue to take these photos as it amuses me. I do not think it will become my job, I love mine and it’s better that it’s still a hobby, which allows me to remain free in my creative efforts."
