Taiwanese Pet Salon Trims Teddy Bears, Hello Kitty, And Other Designs Into Pets' Fur

If you thought pet grooming had reached its peak, then think again because a salon in Taiwan has taken to trimming various designs and shapes into animals' fur.

Their unusual grooming practices see dogs and cats with designs including Hello Kitty, teddy bears, lion faces, paw prints, and a spiked spine like a dinosaur. All shaved or cut into their fur so they look like the most fashion forward of pooches and felines.

Some of the designs, undertaken by a former hairdresser, can take hours to do and are chosen depending on the shape and contours of the animal.

The owner Ou Shih-jou told Reuters that the idea came about after pet owners were looking for something a bit different from the standard summer shave.

"When a cat gets angry, the fur on its back erects, that made us come up with 'stegosaurus design.'" Ou told Reuters. "It (makes the cat) look like a small dinosaur. The owners were happy after they came back to see it, thinking it was quite creative."

The salon opened last year and has seen interest rise as pet owners spot these creatively-shaved animals wandering around Taiwan—and want their pet to look just as fabulous.
