Gandalf Tells School Children "If you don't revise properly...You Shall Not Pass!"

"STUDY, YOU FOOLS!!" - When a wizard from middle-earth gives you some words of wisdom it's best to take it seriously and put it into practice - and so it was when Gandalf paid a visit to a school in Bristol, UK and delivered some magical advice for the students.

Sir Ian McKellen (yes, i hate to you, but Gandalf isn't a real person) came to visit Chew Valley School last week. He had this important message for the students gathered outside the library to catch a glimpse of the Lord of the Rings actor.

He told them: “In preparation for your examinations – if you don’t do your revision properly, do you know what will happen?”

The students, who most likely had all guessed exactly what was coming next, asked: ‘What will happen?’

Sir Ian then bellowed out his famous line from his performance as Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films.

‘YOU SHALL NOT PASS!’

Seriously, you couldn't make this up if you tried. But then, if I was Sir Ian, I would do this every. Single. Day.

‘It is a day that they and I will never forget,’ said headteacher, Mark Mallett. ‘Sir Ian was a gracious guest at the school and an impassioned evangelist for tolerance and equality.'

Mark went on to say 'I can think of no better creed for our young people to take from their school careers into their lives as citizens as they go from here to contribute to the future of our society and country.’

And just in case you have been asleep under a rock or in a coma for the past 13 years here is the famous line below from the Lord of the Rings.
