What Happens To This Iraq Vet's Home While He's Away Will Bring Tears To Your Eyes

The internet can be a cynical place, so every once in a while you need to balance out all that cynicism with some good old-fashioned goodwill. Retired Iraq War vet Master Sergeant Jacinto Bernardo and his wife Julie bought their retirement home in Solano County, California.

It was the only place they could afford and it was a right old mess, but thanks to Jacinto's Marine buddy Jeremy Epperson and some donated money, the home was transformed into their dream pad.

The renovation totalled around $70,000 and included a new kitchen—and took a team of volunteers to turn around. The house was spruced up for TV show Homecoming Heroes. Watch Master Sergeant Jacinto Bernardo's emotional response in the video above.
