Matthew McConaughey Gives Texas Longhorns Chest-Beating Wolf of Wall Street-Style Pep Talk

Matthew McConaughey went full-on Matthew McConaughey when he visited the Texas Longhorns to deliver an inspirational speech. McConaughey graduated from the University of Texas in 1993 and returned to his alma mater to give the talk in between team practice. The actor gave a rousing speech then did his chest thumping bit from The Wolf Of Wall Street.

The team had suffered a 20-17 loss to UCLA the week before so were in need of some uplifting to soothe their spirits. And who better than the Oscar-winning McConaughey who had the team hooked on his every word. The perfect Hollywood celeb to raise them from the doldrums before they faced the Kansas Jayhawks in their next game.

Ask yourself, men, when you look in the mirror tonight, just say, 'Who do I play this game? Why do I do this? Why do I come out to practice? Why am I out here busting my ass in the middle of the heat every day? Feels good going out on Saturdays when it's the big show, right? Hell yeah, it does. Feels a whole lot better after a W than it does after an L.

After the speech the players asked McConaughey which was his favorite movie he's starred in. Mud was his reply, but he said he also likes The Wolf of Wall Street, then went on to lead the players through the chant he does in the movie (below), followed by the chest thumping and humming.

He then went on to tell the players how the scene came about, saying it wasn't in the script but he'd shown it to Leonardo DiCaprio who asked him to do it when they filmed the scene. After the speech The Longhorns went on to beat Kansas 23-0. The power of McConaughey in full effect.
