It started when 90-year-old president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe tripped while walking down some stairs after giving a speech at Harare International Airport on Wednesday.
Cameras were there filming and photographers were there too, so the fall was captured by the media, but the president's team didn't want the footage to get out. Press photographers were told to delete any photos they took of the fall by Mugabe's security.
But as much as they tried to stop the images getting out, they got out. Press agencies around the world got hold of them, then they got to social media and the #MugabeFalls and #MugabeStumbles hashtags came with it.
And lo, a meme was born.
