Feminists Hijack Sexist #HowToSpotAFeminist Hashtag And Claim It As Their Own
It's a tough world out there people, especially if you are a woman who has been working for decades to secure equality for all people and trying to make sure that females are being treated equally under the current law and trying hard to break down gender norms and stereotypes, trying to ensure that people can live the lives they want to.
However, somewhere along that journey you will meet people who don't agree with your outlook on how the world should be, and maybe you should be having those thoughts in the kitchen, where you belong. Yeah, right.
But then you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs i guess.
The hashtag #HowToSpotAFeminist recently came to prominence on twitter after the radio host for The Blaze, Doc Thompson tweeted, "Any tips on #HowToSpotAFeminist??? We'll discuss tomorrow #WhatILearnedToday."
According to a report on Salon.com, "Conservative talk radio host Doc Thompson totally gets it too. What’s more, he gets how difficult it can be when a person doesn’t look like the stereotype of an unshaven, braless, makeup-free feminist woman, but instead just looks like your average human being — except secretly, she (or he!) is someone who believes that everybody, regardless of gender, deserves the same rights, opportunities, treatment and respect. It is almost too scary to contemplate."
They go on to say, "To cope with the challenges of navigating the 21st century while still believing that women are subordinate, Thompson decided to compile a shorthand guide to spotting the feminists (because they’re out there, hiding in plain sight). He issued this call to his Twitter followers on Sunday:"
The tweet above prompted a slew of typically sexist responses, as people jumped on board and saw it as the perfect opportunity to ridicule feminism and act like douches.
Here a couple of the typical type of response.
#HowToSpotAFeminist - Usually fat & ugly, always inherently unlikeable, supremely hypocritical, snarky, annoying, deluded, intransigent.
#HowToSpotAFeminist The feminist will be dining on krill and brine shrimp in preparation to cross the Bering sea.
But while that's pretty depressing to see, actual feminists, both male and female, hijacked the hashtag and turned the negativity around.
Mostly by posting hilariously sarcastic responses that stuck a middle digit up to those throwing around the lazy stereotypes.

#HowToSpotAFeminist do they seem like they have common sense & social awareness? If yes, then you have spotted a feminist.
