The Monster Project Brings Kids' Drawings To Vivid Life And Encourages Creativity

Kids love drawing. A lot of the time they love drawing monsters of all shapes and sizes. Usually these are sketched in crayon and are full of the vivid and unhinged creativity that children's imaginations are known for.

And now a group of artists are turning those imagined sketches into much more realized artworks.

Called The Monster Project the idea is to transform their images using professional artists and so inspire the kids to continue drawing. The project says this will help them to "recognize the power of their own imaginations and to encourage them to pursue their creative potential."

Here's how it works:

We simply invite Elementary students to draw monsters. Once their creations have taken shape, we bring them to life in our own artistic styles. Then, when we deliver these new interpretations back to the students in person, we are able to demonstrate new art techniques within their original creative context. They are able to see what their idea sparked in others.

The group want to put an emphasis on art and teach the kids that, despite what your dad says, being an artist is a totally worthwhile career path.

"We have to admit, this isn't just for the kids." they confess though. "What a refreshing opportunity it is to be offered a glimpse into someone else's head – especially the fantastically bizarre, unobstructed thoughts of a child. It’s an amazing opportunity."

You can check out some of the creations below. And you can support the project by donating to its Kickstarter.
