You may have a pet cat, you may have a pet dog, but chances are you don't have a pet fox. Well the owner of Juniper does because Juniper is a domesticated fox. She's already a bit of an animal star on Instagram where she has over 100,000 followers and is known as "Juniper The Happiest Fox."
Her fame rose even higher when a video of her pouncing on some bed sheets like she was trying to plow through some snow looking for some prey emerged online. “Foxes have a very high prey drive, meaning that they will attempt to hunt due to their natural instincts,” Juniper’s owner told Bored Panda. “Juniper and all foxes pounce in this way when they hear a scratching noise which to them resembles the sound of a mouse under the snow or ground.”
Juniper lives with her owner who shows off Juniper's adorability, dresses her in sweaters, and posts lots of photos where she seems to be smiling in the cutest way possible.
After looking through the pics you'll no doubt want your very own Juniper who seems to act more like a pet dog than a fox. But while it may seem that way, Juniper's owner has made clear in an Instagram post that having a pet fox isn't easy. In fact it's quite the opposite.
"Foxes are not like owning a dog or cat. Foxes smell. Bad. Their urine and feces smell like skunk mixed with ammonia. Foxes are destructive, they will destroy things in your house. Foxes must be fed some raw meats and bone content in their diet." she says, but finishes, "Foxes can make excellent companions and it is nice to serve as an ambassador for such a misunderstood and beautiful creature. But they are not for everyone."
They are damn cute though.
