Reporter Mistakes Ear Plugs For Rubber Bullets, Internet Responds With Ridicule
Often in the heat of the moment we all make mistakes. It was just unfortunate that Huffington Post reporter Ryan J. Reilly tweeted his mistake to 66,000 followers. Reilly has been reporting about the unrest in Ferguson and was one of the reporters who was arrested when trouble first started. A few days after his release he tweeted the following:
Which was quickly followed by the below, once people pointed out his mistake.
But that was enough. Once Twitter got hold of it people proceeded to mercilessly mock Reilly by posting their own parody pictures of dangerous weapons they found at Ferguson—and other assorted hilarity.
. Hey bro, I'm trying to load rubber bullets in my high-capacity mag but it's not working. Can you help?
And lo, a journalistic lesson was learned the hard way.
